Ancient Egyptians believed the Egyptain cobra snake to be a guardian of the kingship. Snakes where often depicted on burial masks and statues of gods. Tutankhamun, one of the most well know Pharaohs, had an Egyptian cobra made out of gold on his burial mask. Howard Carter discovered the Tutankhamun tomb in 1923, on that same day a snake ate his pet canary! Creepy!

INGREDIENTS

3 layer 8" vanilla or lemon cake
1300g buttercrean mix
500g rainbow sprinkles
200g dolly mixtures
15g jelly beans
10-15g mini marshmallows
5-10g silver star sprinkles
any other sweet you want

160g self-rasing flour
70g unsalted butter, softened
1 free range egg
55g cheddar cheese
25g white seasame seeds
20 black sesame seeds

step by Step guide

STEP 1

Sift the flour into a mixing bowl. Use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour.

STEP 2

Add ¾ of a whisked egg; keep the remaining ¼ egg for later.

STEP 3

Add the milk and cheese and mix together with your hands, until you have a sticky dough.

 

Tip: If the dough is too sticky to roll out add more flour

STEP 4

Dust a worksurface with flour. Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece with the palm of your hands until it gets to about 10-inch and looks like a long rope of even thickness.

STEP 5

Gently press one end, with a fingertip to create the snake’s heads. Pinch the other end into a point to create a tail.

STEP 6

Brush each snake with the remaining egg.

STEP 7

Sprinkle with white sesame seeds and press two black sesame seeds for eyes.   Chill them in the fridge for 30mins. Them bake for 12 minutes at 180°c until golden in colour.

STEP 8

Once cool enjoy them with your favourite dip! Great for a fun lunch box snack. We love to dip ours in tomato soup!

INGREDIENTS

BKD Zesty Lemon cake mix

280g butter

3 eggs

1tbsp milk

blue food colouring

smarties (red, orange, yellow, green, blue)

mini white marshmallows

STEP 1

 Using the BKD Zesty Lemon Cake mix, bake 2 x 6" cakes, following the instructions on the packet.

STEP 2

When your cake is completely cool, trim them both with a bread knife until they are flat on top.

Sprinkle with white sesame seeds along the body and press in two black sesame seeds for eyes on the head.   Chill them in the fridge for 30mins. Then bake for 11-13 minutes at 180°c until golden in colour.
